When you're slammed in summer it's easy to think: "I don't need to worry about marketing — I have more work than I can handle."
And that's true right now. But summer doesn't last forever.
The businesses that stay booked in fall and winter are the ones who kept their online presence active all summer long — even when they were busy.
Here's what that looks like:
📸 Posting job photos to Google and social media throughout the season
⭐ Asking for reviews after every completed job
📝 Keeping their Google Business Profile updated with posts
✅ Making sure their website is easy to find and easy to use
None of this takes hours. But doing it consistently through the busy months means your reputation keeps building — so when things slow down, you're not starting from zero.

There's one thing on most local service websites that would instantly make customers trust you more — and it's almost always missing.
Real customer testimonials. On your actual website.
Not just your Google reviews (though those matter too). We're talking about 2 or 3 short quotes from real customers, with their first name and what service you did for them, right on your homepage or services page.
Something like:
"Mike showed up on time, fixed the issue in under an hour, and cleaned up after himself. Highly recommend." — Sarah T., Minneapolis
That one sentence does more for a potential customer's confidence than a full page of "we're the best in the business" copy ever will.
We're wired to trust other people's experiences. It's why we check reviews before trying a new restaurant. Your website should use that same psychology.
It takes about 10 minutes to add. Text a few happy customers and ask if you can use something they said. Most will say yes. ✅

Most service business owners know they need more reviews. Most don't ask. Here's why — and how to fix it.
Asking for a review can feel pushy. Or awkward. Or like you're begging.
It's not. Here's a reframe:
Your happy customers WANT to support you. They just don't think about it unless someone reminds them.
The best time to ask is right after the job — when they just said "wow, great work" or "you guys were so easy to work with."
Just say something like:
"Really appreciate you saying that. If you ever get a spare minute, a Google review would mean a lot to us — it helps other homeowners find us."
That's it. No link-shoving. No follow-up email with 3 reminders. Just a genuine ask in the moment.
You can also set up an automated text that goes out after a job closes — something short and simple with a direct link to your Google review page.
The businesses with 80+ reviews didn't get there by accident. They just made asking part of the process. ⭐
