Architecture by Design

Since the groundbreaking 4 months ago, a lot of progress has been made on our Slippery Hill Phase 2 family project with Green Street Housing, LLC. 4 of the 5 buildings are well into or beyond the framing stage. A few are getting into the MEP rough ins stage. Windows and roofing are also being installed among other things. The Harkins Builders site team is working hard in Grasonville, MD and doing a great job staying ahead of schedule.

We are happy to announce that Judi Miller has been appointed by Governor Wes Moore to the Maryland State Board of Professional Engineers through 2025. Although she is not a Professional Engineer, she hopes to bridge the gap between Architecture and Engineering as she serves on this Board.

Our 63 unit, Woodland Gardens I project in Baltimore, MD has made a lot of progress the last couple of months. All four floors are framed up to the roof and being wrapped with weather resistive barrier (WRB) and getting windows installed. The interior of units are ready to start MEP rough ins. Front and rear entry porches are being framed outside. The building is taking shape adjacent to the sister building, Woodland Gardens II, which was completed a month or two ago.

We look forward to continuing a successful project to provide additional affordable housing units to the City of Baltimore.

This day marks the end of slavery and serves as a celebration of resilience, contributions, and progress of African Americans in our society.

On this day we pause, remember, and honor the ongoing journey toward racial justice and equality.

Yesterday was National Small Business day! We at ABD want to celebrate all of the small businesses that make our hometown, Old Ellicott City community unique and full of character. Being a small business ourselves, with 11 employees, we take pride in supporting and enjoying the local businesses at lunch time and afterhours. Being just 60+ steps down the hill from our office, our team members get to experience this community first hand everyday.
