You ruined a concert because Lil Wayne was with you? That’s cute.

With the BTUs created in fires today, given how most everything is made from petroleum based materials, a good water supply is needed more than ever. And with minimal staffing, assigning another firefighter to water supply, isn’t safe.

There are places in the city that we cannot pump enough water through our 4” LDH without tying up a second pumper and operator.

That’s why we are transitioning to 5” LDH. The friction loss at the pressures needed is minimal. Now there are apartment buildings within the reach of a hydrant that weren’t before.

100’ of 5” large diameter supply hose can cost over $1,500. Outfitting a truck is a huge undertaking. That’s why it’s amazing to find a department that has some 5” that wants to trade for our 4”.

One more truck is now outfitted with 5”.
