Hello friends and neighbors in the 53122,
As some of you may already know, I have decided to not go on the ballot this April 2025. We have a lot of great things happening in the Shepherd family. We have fast-growing kids who are now in a lot of activities, and my volunteer time after work will be further applied to coaching and staying involved in their school. It is bittersweet, because I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in office.
I am very optimistic about the Village of Elm Grove as we look out the windshield into 2025 and beyond. We have a great staff led by the very talented Tom Harrigan and our Board is in a great position led by President Jim Koleski. I will be forever grateful for their partnership and friendship. As a team we have collectively spent dozens if not hundreds of hours writing and balancing budgets, planning roadways/pathways, strengthening our Police Department and Fire Departments, planning the Underwood Creek daylighting project, improving our relationships with our local schools and the Elm Grove Business Association, improving our crown jewel Village Park and green spaces, holding Caroline Heights project team accountable, holding WE Energies accountable, investing in our water/storm/sewer infrastructure, and the list goes on and on.
This is more of a 'see you later' than a total goodbye from public service. I wish all of my fellow Village of Elm Grove colleagues, neighbors, supporters and friends a very blessed 2025. The future of Elm Grove is very bright!

Very proud of the hard work and dedication put in by our Village of Elm Grove Recreation Department, Rec Committee, and Village Board to deliver this new basketball court on time and under budget.
This much needed park amenity will be enjoyed by many for decades!

BREAKING IN ELM GROVE: Last night at Village Board we awarded a competitive bid and approved 6-1 a full replacement of the basketball court in our Park. Village Park is the crown jewel of Elm Grove. We must continue to earmark appropriate capital funds to maintain and enhance its amenities. The current court, estimated at 40 to 45 yrs of age, has deteriorated to the point where it has become unsafe (see images). I’m proud to announce that the new court came in 27% under budget and it will provide a healthy experience for all ages and abilities. Construction should start in the spring of 2024!
