Many smoke/carbon monoxide detectors come with built in batteries now. Just a reminder that those should also be checked for the expiration dates - even if the batteries themselves don't get changed!

WxAlert: Extreme Cold Warning! Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 34 below to 42 below zero expected. Frostbite can occur in as little as 10 minutes! Be proactive and take steps to be safe during this extreme cold!

When there are extreme cold conditions, know which actions to take.

👤 For people: Limit time outdoors, check on neighbors and loved ones, and dress in layers
🏠 For your home: Use space heaters with caution, and slow drip faucets
🚙 For your vehicle: Keep gas tank at least half full, check your tire pressure and your battery

In addition to clearing snow around hydrants, don't forget to clear any snow around your furnace vents and gas meters!

Please remember to keep fire hydrants clear of snow. A visible, shoveled hydrant gives firefighters precious extra minutes in an emergency — minutes that can save lives and property.

If you can, clear a 3-foot space around hydrants near your home or business and make sure they’re easy to spot.
