The residential Knox Home Box program is available to residents with special needs, and is designed to provide secure emergency access to a home or property to those living alone or with a history of medical or mobility issues. When a fire breaks out or a medical emergency occurs, a Knox Home Box enables the Fire Department to gain immediate access to the home without causing damage or delay through forced entry. The boxes are meant to be placed over the top of the resident's front entry door. Inside, a key to the residence is securely placed for access by the Elmhurst Fire Department only. For information on obtaining a Knox Home Box, please call 630-530-3090.
