Today we swore -in our newest Explorer member, Christian. He has already shown great promise through his teamwork, commitment, and eagerness to learn, qualities we value deeply in our program.

We were also fortunate to tour the Great Lakes Naval Base, which offered an incredible opportunity to see firsthand the discipline and professionalism of our nation’s service members. A special highlight was our visit with the Navy Police Department K-9 Unit, where we witnessed the precision and bond between officers and their canine partners. We also explored the former Navy Special Warfare BUD/S training facility, a place that represents the highest levels of perseverance and dedication. Lastly, the Navy Museum provided powerful historical insight.

It was an inspiring day that left a lasting impression on both our advisors and Explorers, reinforcing the values of service, respect, and dedication that unite law enforcement and the military.

Today marked a significant moment as we officially swore in two new explorers, Anna Pearlman and Aedan Simonjak to our explorer program.

Officers Gamperl and Velez led an informative and hands-on session on DUI enforcement, covering field sobriety tests and demonstrating the use of the portable breathalyzer. Their instruction was not only engaging but also a critical learning opportunity for our explorers.

We also discussed exciting upcoming summer events, department tours, and new volunteering opportunities all designed to provide positive experiences and deeper insight into law enforcement.

What stood out most today was the way our unit Sergeants interacted with the three potential explorers who attended the meeting. Each sergeant took the initiative to approach them, introduce themselves, and make them feel welcomed. That level of leadership and inclusivity is the foundation of everything we strive to teach in this program.,
