Emory Volunteer Fire Department

Rains County is currently under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. The Emory Fire Department will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the duration of the watch and will provide updates as additional information becomes available.

Please stay weather aware, have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, and be prepared to take action if conditions worsen. We encourage everyone to stay safe and use caution while traveling during the storm.

We will keep our community informed as the situation develops.

3PM: Severe storms are moving through northern portions of our area. The main threat is 50-60mph winds. These storms will be moving southward over the next few hours. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect through 10pm.

At 6:53 p.m., Emory Fire Department was dispatched to assist Point Fire Department with a reported shop fire.

Emory Fire responded with Engine 1, Tanker 1, and Tanker 2. Through the coordinated efforts of both departments, crews were able to quickly contain the fire and extinguish all remaining hot spots. All units cleared the incident by 8:40 p.m.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Rains County Sheriff's Office for providing traffic control, allowing firefighters to safely operate on scene and Hopkins County EMS for being on stand by for rehab.
