I've been fortunate to have a career photographing weddings and portraits around the world for the past 12 years.

My incredibly talented daughter .luciana is a completely self-taught artist. She loves working with all kinds of media, but has lately been drawn (see what I did there? ) to colored pencils.

She’ll disappear into her room and come out with one of these beautiful drawings an hour later! 😍

Click the link below or DM me if you’re interested in ordering a custom portrait of a loved one, drawn by the one and only Nakoa Fellows!

You can just send me a photo of the person you want drawn along with a Venmo for $60, and she’ll make you a unique work of art.

She’s saving up for her first car in a couple years, so anything she earns will go straight to her savings account. 🥹

From laughter-filled silliness with the wedding party to a breathtaking sunset stroll on the beach, this wedding at Darlington House was a whirlwind of joy and love! The energy was contagious, the moments were unforgettable, and capturing the magic was an absolute blast. Congrats to Will & Carol!

These photos make me super excited for long sunny days and warm weather coming as we get closer to spring forward! Love this fun selection of photos we did for and their swimsuit collection. Can’t wait for summer!

“You are loved just for being who you are, just for existing. You don’t have to do anything to earn it. Your shortcomings, your lack of self-esteem, physical perfection, or social and economic success – none of that matters. No one can take this love away from you, and it will always be here.”― Ram Dass

I recently heard someone say that they endeavor to give compliments to people based on personality traits rather than physical ones. It stopped me in my tracks. I realized that so much of our society revolves around physical beauty of people and things. It is a surface level assessment at best. So I've started to try and change my perspective and how I think about the people around me too. It is especially challenging for me because as a photographer, my entire existence depends on aesthetics and creating visually appealing imagery. Being mindful about how I think about things is a practice, and nobody is perfect. So it's good to remind myself that it's ok if I'm not good at it at first, just keep trying.

When I think about Masie (a good friend who also happens to be the awesome yogi in these photos), the first thing that comes to mind is that she is incredibly fearless. So many people spend their days and effort trying to maintain the status quo, but not Masie. She is a person that is constantly pushing past what is in her comfort zone, sometimes with seemingly reckless abandon. To people who aren't used to or comfortable with that kind of thing, it can be scary or even threatening. It's really quite incredible to see the ways in which she's always doing it, and I really appreciate how she inspires so many people around her to do the same.

Try it out the next time you greet someone! Think of a character trait them that you really admire and give them a compliment. See if you can feel the difference it makes.

Much love,
Shane

Two thirds through last year, I realized that my involvement with social media was not healthy, so I just stopped one day. I decided to focus more on my real life interactions with people, my work, and doing things with my time that actually brought joy to my life. I would still pop on for a few minutes and like or comment on others posts whenever I felt like it, but the moment that it started bringing up negative thoughts or feelings, I would simply put down my phone and do something else. It’s been about 7 months now, and I have to say that I’m absolutely happy with that decision that I made. On a daily basis I feel more connected to the present and like I’m assessing things from a lens that isn’t burdened by comparisons to others. Maybe it will resonate with you too. It’s ok to just put your phone down and walk away. You can do it and everything will be just fine.

That said, over these 7 months I have been incredibly busy with shooting (so thankful for that!!) and creating a bunch of work that I’m very proud of. So I guess I’ll start making posts to show the stuff I’ve been working on that makes my heart happy and see how it goes. :)

So here are some of my favorite images from an engagement session I did last week for this rad couple Megan & Hunter. This is just from the second half of the session, so I’ll penalty do another post without faves from the first half. It was one of those sessions that everything just clicked. All we had to do was show up and play.

Much love you you all. Keep doing the things that make you feel great. Shane
