Today we honor a powerful moment in 1865, when the news of freedom finally reached Galveston, Texas—marking the end of slavery in the United States. We celebrate the enduring strength of those who never stopped believing it would come. It’s a day to celebrate, to reflect, and to give thanks.

We’re reminded that God’s heart is for justice, and His call is for us to love one another well. May we continue to walk in that calling—with faith, hope, and unity.
