Common Core Math looks tricky to us (parents)! 😜 I promise it’s not that bad! 🤔 Here, we are making adding easier by turning a 9 into a 10 by borrowing from the other digit. But why are they making us do this Anne!? 😩 Because it’s always easier mentally adding any number to a 10! 🎤

Behind the scenes 👀 for my Teach Your Child to Read: Letter Sounds class on Sunday! 🤗

Tutoring set up for a student working on letter sounds. 🔤 Here we are working with Letterland to help learn the letter sounds. We talk about each letter sound and find things on the page that have that beginning sound, listen to the catchy songs 🎶 on Spotify and then I read the page aloud providing more exposure. I’ve also created a fun matching game with Letterland. 🤗 Once we’ve mastered the letters sounds I tie them into CVC words and we play games such as sound swapping. I will then introduce specific books that only use CVC words. Two great examples of this would be the Bob Books Sam and Mat. ☺️
