Ryan Singer scours rural Oregon’s abandoned homes, digging through dusty boxes, crawling through decomposing attics and hunting for rare vintage clothing potentially worth thousands of dollars. The hardest part isn’t the mold or the guard dogs. It’s convincing people he’s not crazy.

The Nisqually people have tended the lands around Mount Rainier for millennia. Today, they are fighting to reclaim their ancestral traditions on native lands scarred by intensified glacial melt. With Pacific Northwest glaciers predicted to largely disappear by 2070, Nisqually culture, deeply intertwined with the land, is being reshaped before their eyes.
