Today we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the resilience, achievements, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history.
Juneteenth is both a celebration and a reminder of the ongoing work to build communities where freedom, opportunity, and dignity are shared by all.
Lane County is committed to fostering a community where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported. We are a proud supporter of the third annual Juneteenth Gathering hosted by B.L.A.Q. Youth taking place today from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farmerβs Market Pavilion in downtown Eugene.

π June is Immigrant Heritage Month π
Oregon has long been home to Indigenous peoples whose communities, cultures, and stewardship of this land stretch back thousands of years. Over generations, people from around the world also came to Oregon from somewhere else and helped build communities, businesses, farms, neighborhoods, and traditions that continue to enrich our state today.
This month, we celebrate the many contributions of immigrants in Lane County and across Oregon β as workers, entrepreneurs, artists, caregivers, educators, public servants, neighbors, and friends.
Immigrant Heritage Month is also an opportunity to recognize the strength, resilience, and diverse experiences that make our communities more vibrant and connected.
We are grateful for the people and cultures that help make Oregon home. π
