It’s 🛠️

This week, technicians installed two new OHAZ cameras in Washington at Selah Butte and Rattlesnake Hills.

Just hours after the Rattlesnake Hills camera went live, it detected the Hwy 24 Fire near Yakima and has been tracking the incident ever since.

These cameras are part of OHAZ’s continued expansion into Washington and were made possible through support from the Bureau of Land Management.

The Halls Ridge camera is actively monitoring the Kinney Ridge Fire, west of Detroit Lake. The camera provided the initial detection of the fire, and has been a key tool for monitoring conditions.

📍As of 6/3/26 12:00pm, the fire sits at a 19 acre footprint. There are no current evacuation orders. Stay up to date on fire conditions with Oregon Department of Forestry - North Cascade District

Happy 🛠️ !

Last week, our field technicians conducted tower training with hands-on practice in tower rescue demonstrations, haul techniques, rigging a dish and mast properly, and knot-tying practice.

Training like this helps ensure our team is prepared to safely support the critical monitoring infrastructure that protects Oregon!

OHAZ’s Pine Mountain camera was right next to the flames and captured some amazing imagery of the fire and the crews working to contain it.

We recently had the privilege of spending the afternoon with State Treasurer, Dr. Elizabeth Steiner!

During our discussion, we emphasized the critical importance of our multi-hazards network in protecting Oregon’s residents and natural landscapes. We also highlighted the strong partnerships we have cultivated with various agencies, utilities, and companies to enhance our collective resilience. Collaborating across sectors is essential to ensuring the safety and sustainability of our communities.

Thanks again Dr. Steiner for visiting us at OHAZ!
