Manual therapy is just one piece of the puzzle.
Techniques like this can help reduce muscle guarding, improve movement, and make it easier to tolerate the exercises that create lasting results. The research consistently shows that hands-on care is most effective when it’s combined with an individualized rehabilitation program—not used as a standalone treatment.

🚨 STOP trying to “fix” the hump at the base of your neck. 👇
That bump where your neck meets your upper back is usually NOT something that needs to be “removed.”
For many people, it’s simply:
✔️ The transition from the natural curve of your neck (lordosis) to the curve of your upper back (kyphosis)
✔️ Your C7 vertebra (the vertebra prominens), which naturally sticks out more than the other vertebrae
✔️ Normal soft tissue and adipose tissue over the area
What does matter is how well this region moves.
The cervicothoracic (CT) junction is one of the most common places we see stiffness because it’s where two very different regions of the spine meet. When movement becomes limited, your body often compensates by moving too much through the neck or shoulders, which can contribute to discomfort, headaches, or restricted mobility.
In this video, I’m performing a CT junction adjustment to help restore motion to this area. An adjustment isn’t about “putting bones back in place” or getting rid of the bump—it’s about improving how the joints move so the surrounding muscles don’t have to work as hard.
Research supports that spinal manipulation, when combined with exercise and movement, can improve pain and function for many people with mechanical neck pain. The adjustment is just one piece of the puzzle—the long-term goal is keeping that mobility with the right strengthening and posture habits.
