If your compliance training has a 95% completion rate but behavior still isn't changing, it might not be a culture problem. It might be a language problem.

Employees who can't fully access workplace communication often can't fully access advancement either. That's a retention problem, a legal exposure problem, and a leadership pipeline problem all at once.

We wrote a practical guide for HR teams navigating this, because "we'll figure it out" is costing more than most organizations realize.

A brand launched the "Mist Stick" in Germany. A curling iron. Sleek, stylish, designed to give you beautiful hair.

Their tagline? "Style your hair with Mist."

In German, Mist means manure.

The Manure Stick. Style your hair with manure. That was the pitch.

German consumers were not interested in styling their hair with manure. This is not a surprise. This is a reasonable response from a reasonable population.

No amount of clever packaging was going to fix the fact that the product name was, in the local language, a synonym for a barnyard situation.

Your product name is the first thing people hear. It needs to mean what you think it means — in every market you enter. Multilingual Connections makes sure your brand launches with confidence, not a stable full of regrets. 🐄

"Are you 100% sure the translation is correct?"

I had to ask ChatGPT this three times before it caught that both the Hebrew and Arabic on a church welcome sign were laid out incorrectly.

The words were right. The order wasn't.

Imagine seeing "emoclew" instead of "welcome" and being told that should make you feel that you belong.

This happens when organizations use AI translation without human review. The technology is good at word conversion, but it misses context, layout, cultural nuance, and how the message actually feels to native speakers.

A sign meant to say "you belong" can accidentally communicate the opposite.

Human judgment isn't optional when language is used to build trust and connection. More on why translation needs both technology and humanity here: https://multilingualconnections.com/blog/when-welcome-isnt-welcoming-why-human-judgment-matters-in-ai-translation/

Sometimes, a boxed wine is wonderful for a weeknight. But when you're celebrating something special, you want a sommelier who brings expertise and can recommend something beyond what you can envision.

Translation works the same way. AI can handle straightforward content when the stakes are low. But when it comes to nuance, cultural sensitivity, and brand authenticity, especially if your reputation is on the line, you need a human expert who can spot what AI missed.
