Concept Plus LLC is excited to share that NOAA’s GOES-16 satellite has captured two new world records for lightening megaflashes. The satellite captured the new world record for duration in October of 2018, and the longest single flash, covering an approximate distance of 477 miles, in April of 2020. We are thrilled to share a wonderful example of an unexpected way satellite technology assists scientific research, and congratulate all whose work contributed to the new records. CP provides Oracle Database Support Services to the NOAA GOES-R program such as Oracle High Availability, daily data collection, data replication, deduplication, migration, and warehouse acceleration for Geospatial data provided by the satellites.
