The day is winding down around Fall River.

Tonight’s check-in: Tell us your only-in-Fall-River moment from today.

Some city moments are hard to explain unless you are from here. You see it and just think, yes, that tracks.

What was that moment today?

Some views just feel like old Fall River and new Fall River shaking hands. 🌊

Drone caught a boat cruising along the Taunton River, just north of the Veterans Memorial Bridge between Fall River and Somerset. That stretch of water has seen mills, bridges, workboats, weekend rides, and generations of people crossing back and forth like it’s just part of the daily rhythm.

And honestly? Seeing a boat glide through there from above is one of those small reminders that this river is still moving, still working, still beautiful.

Would you rather watch this view from the bridge, the waterfront, or from the boat itself?

Fall River, this one deserves a statue, a mural, a sign, something. ⚽🔥

Huge credit to Christopher Antao for calling this out, because once you learn it, you can’t unlearn it:

The first hat-trick in FIFA World Cup history was scored by Bert Patenaude from Fall River, Massachusetts.

July 17, 1930.
USA vs. Paraguay.
Montevideo, Uruguay.
Final score: USA 3, Paraguay 0.

All three goals: Bert Patenaude.

That is not small-town trivia. That is global sports history with a Fall River address.

And Bert was not some random name who happened to be from here. He played for the Fall River Marksmen, a powerhouse club that helped make this city one of the great soccer towns in America. The Marksmen were winning championships, packing crowds, and sending players into the biggest games in the world before most people today even realize Fall River had that kind of sports pull.

The wild part?

FIFA did not officially recognize Patenaude’s World Cup hat-trick until 2006 because the second goal had been disputed for decades.

Fall River knew.
The soccer historians knew.
Eventually, the record books caught up.

So here is the question:

What would be the best way for Fall River to honor Bert Patenaude today?

A mural?
A statue?
A street sign?
A tournament?
A downtown banner?
