While most people are aware of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as a Civil Rights Movement leader, fewer are familiar with the role he played in the fair housing movement.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. recognized that housing discrimination was a major barrier to equality for Black Americans. His commitment to fair housing was a vital part of the Civil Rights Movement, advocating for everyone's right to live in safe, quality neighborhoods.

In April 1968, just days after the tragic loss of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Fair Housing Act was signed into law—marking a historic step in the fight against housing discrimination.
