If Covid-19 taught us anything was that certain populations were at higher risk. The elderly, people with conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases (e.g., asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), and obesity, to name a few. Here are a few steps to take to enhance your immune response and improve your immune system.
1. Maintain a balanced diet

2. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

3. Get sufficient sleep: Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night.

4. Manage stress levels: Chronic stress can negatively impact immune function.

5. Maintain good hygiene practices

6. Avoid smoking and limit alcohol consumption: Smoking harms the immune system and increases the risk of respiratory infections. Excessive alcohol intake can also suppress immune function.

7. Regular physical activity: Engage in moderate-intensity exercise for at least 150 minutes per week. Regular physical activity supports immune function and overall well-being. Even if it is 1 mile per day.
