Whether where you are is somewhere you feel is a good place to be, a bad place to be, or somewhere in between. God does not make mistakes, and designed you to be right where you are at this exact moment, for a reason. Not everything is immediately known or seen by us, but we must have trust and faith that God uses all things for our good. Who you are, where you are, and all that you are meant to be is exactly as He designed. Trust. Pray. He will guide you.

Life can be unpredictable. It can give us joy, excitement, and beautiful gifts; but it can also throw a few curveballs and bring trials and sorrow. These are not the things we can control.

The only thing we can control is ourselves. Our own thoughts. Our own actions. Our own reactions. We must learn ourselves well enough to know what we need, and how to help ourselves when sailing through these changing seasons.

We might not be able to control or help the things that happen to us or around us, but we can learn to control our mindset and our reactions while navigating through it.

Often times, we are our own toughest critics. We harshly judge ourselves, speak negatively both to and about ourselves, and put ourselves down. This can be done even without input from other people, or without doing anything wrong. But somehow we have convinced ourselves that we deserve to be spoken to like this.

This is not true. This is not in your best interest.

If you don’t speak to YOURSELF with love, kindness, grace, and mercy, how can you remind yourself that you deserve this from OTHERS too?

The next time you feel the need to be critical of yourself, reflect and ask what you would think or feel if you heard someone else being spoken to like this? Hurt? Angry? Shocked?

Be kind and gentle to yourself. Learn to love yourself, and start this by speaking kindly to YOU.
