A little known fact: Sudan is home to more than 200 ancient pyramids, far more than Egypt. Most were built by the rulers of the Kingdom of Kush at sites such as Meroë and Nuri between about 2700 and 2300 years ago. Although generally smaller than Egypt’s pyramids, they remain among Africa’s most remarkable archaeological treasures.
