It is essential to acknowledge that wedding gowns are not universally designed to accommodate and support fuller breasts adequately, particularly in the case of strapless gowns. The addition of bra cups may not suffice to correct this issue. Instead, wearing a properly fitted strapless bra can make a substantial difference in the overall fit of the gown by providing independent support for the bust. Another viable solution is to reinforce the bodice seams with stronger boning, which in certain instances may require steel boning. Bridal consultants may sometimes fail to emphasize the importance of addressing this issue or may inaccurately estimate the costs involved. To avoid unexpected expenses, it is advisable to consult with the in-house seamstress or your own prior to purchasing a strapless gown.

Your dress matters — and so does how it’s altered. Now booking appointments in July for October weddings and beyond, come see me in my In my Farmington Hills home studio. During your fitting we can discuss three fixes that will protect the integrity, design and comfort of your gown: 1) Bustles—clean, secure types that keep your train intact; 2) Seam let-out/let-in—gain or reduce inches without changing the silhouette; 3) Hem balancing—even hems that preserve the gown’s fall. I offer judgment-free, personalized consultations to keep you calm and confident on your day.
