NIGHT GOLF UPDATE:

We have all of the glow sticks for the baskets for night golf. I have 8 extra small flashlights to help find your disc and light up the basket if you need to borrow.

We will set up for night golf and play this Thursday, January 11th, at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Equipment needed:
1 - A light that you buy online and attach to your clear disc OR
2 - Glow sticks and tape to attach to your clear disc
3 - Small flashlight to help find your disc when you putt
YOU MUST HAVE A CLEAR (SEE-THROUGH) DISC

Also, last weekend, we installed a new 9-hole course with all of the instructions. This additional safari course is called Landtroop Links. It starts on Tee-pad #5 to keep a nice flow as you are coming off of 9. There are yellow instruction cards located on all of the bag holders to direct you where to go. In addition, all of the baskets are marked with yellow and blue tape at the bottom of the basket to point you in the direction of the next tee-pad if you are playing the Pro-Course (Blue Tape) or Landtroop Links (Yellow Tape).

PIRATE POINTE DISC GOLF TOURNAMENT

When: Saturday, December 24, 2011 at 11 am
Registration begins at 10.

Where: Fernandina Beach High School (Pirate Pointe DGC)

Cost: $10 per person

First 18 to sign up

You must be 18 years old to play.

Doubles -Best Shot - Players will be partnered up at random before the tournament

Make sure to bring your own discs

All levels of players welcome

Come out and enjoy a day of Disc golf and help support your local course. Come out a little early and warm up at the putting circle.

50% of purse goes back to Pirate Pointe Disc Golf Course for improvements and repairs to the course.

20% of purse goes towards the Closest To Pin recipients (CTP). Two out of the 18 holes will be designated as CTP Holes.

30% of purse goes to team that comes in first place.

Tiebreaker:

Teams will start at Hole 1 on the Pirate Pointe Pro Course and play until one of the teams has a lower score on a hole.

GENERAL RULES OF PIRATE POINTE DISC GOLF COURSE:

• Teams will play best shot.
• Stepping past the marker disc is permitted after the disc is released, except when
putting within 10 meters.
• Players must have one foot at the spot where their disc lands.
o If player repositions disc, the player shall be assessed a one-throw penalty.
• All roads are out of bounds. (If more than 50% of the disc is on the road, the shot is considered out of bounds)
o If disc lands out of bounds on road, player will receive one-throw penalty.
The player may elect to play the next shot from:
• 1 – the spot out of bounds where the disc lands
• 2 – Player may move disc 90 degrees to the closest spot in bounds
• If a disc comes to rest above the playing surface in a tree or other object on the course, its lie shall be marked on the playing surface directly below it. If the playing surface directly below the disc is inside a tree or other solid obstacle, the lie shall be marked on the line of play immediately behind the tree or other solid obstacle. If a disc has come to rest above where the player can reach the disc while standing on the ground, the player shall be assessed a one-throw penalty. No penalty shall be incurred if the disc falls, unassisted by a player or spectator, to a position less than two meters above the playing surface before the thrower arrives at the disc. The thrower may not delay in order to allow the position of the disc to improve.
• A player whose disc is declared lost shall receive one penalty throw. If the throw was made from the tee, the player will re-tee for the next shot. If not made from the tee, the group will determine the approximate lie from which the throw was made, and the player will throw again from that lie. In all cases the original throw plus one penalty throw shall be counted in the player's score.
