We’ve all heard instructions from flight attendants to “secure your own mask first” before helping others if cabin pressure drops on an airplane. There’s a reason this advice is shared so persistently: it makes sense! How would you be able to help others on the plane if you were passed out from lack of oxygen? 😳

The same applies for workplace burnout. The HR team helps every other team manage its well-being, often to the detriment of their own.
