Did you know that more pets go missing on the Fourth of July than any other day of the year?

This year, celebrations may be even bigger than usual as our nation celebrates America’s 250th birthday! 🇺🇸 With more fireworks, parties, and festivities expected throughout the weekend, it’s especially important to plan ahead for your pets.

Even pets who have never run away before can become frightened by loud noises and unfamiliar activity. A scared pet can slip out a door, jump a fence, or break free from a leash in just seconds.

Here are a few ways to help keep your furry family members safe:

✅ Make sure collars fit properly and ID tags are current.
✅ Verify that your pet’s microchip information is up to date.
✅ Keep pets indoors during fireworks and evening celebrations.
✅ Create a quiet, comfortable space with familiar bedding and toys.
✅ Close windows, doors, and gates securely.
✅ Turn on a TV, fan, or calming music to help mask outside noise.
✅ Exercise pets earlier in the day before festivities begin.
✅ Never bring pets to fireworks displays.
✅ Make sure guests know to be careful when opening doors and gates.
