The AeroLegends Biplane Rides Story
Back in the mid-90’s, retired USAF Colonel and United Airlines Captain T.F. “Sam” Spayd decided to build a retirement life in the beautiful community of Florence Oregon, on the Central Oregon Coast. His passion for flying led him to find a beautifully restored 1944 Stearman biplane and bring it to Florence Municipal Airport and start an air tour business showing customers the unparalleled beauty of the coast from a classic open cockpit biplane. After over 20 years, Sam decided to pass the business off to Terry & Winette Tomeny, a retired USAF Test Pilot, who was retiring from The Boeing Company and settling in Florence. Terry continues Sam’s passion for both flying the Stearman and the history and beauty of the Oregon Coast. What other business can you be in where customers that you’ve never met before hug you after a ride and tell you that it was the experience of a lifetime! Come fly with us.
