Gypsy is guessed to be a 7-year-old Boxer/Bulldog/Lab mix. She’s a big baby weighing 73 lbs.

Gypsy is the kind of dog who makes you believe in second chances 🥹

At seven years old, she’s already survived more than any dog should. Gypsy came from a heartbreaking situation involving animal cruelty—one where help came for the children, but not for her 😢 She was left behind, unspayed and suffering, eventually showing life-threatening signs of pyometra 💔 When her future was about to end, we stepped in and saved her life.

Now, Gypsy is fully vetted, healthy, and ready for the forever home she’s always deserved. And here’s the best part…she is PERFECT! 🤩 She’s calm, affectionate, and just wants to be close to her people. Her favorite place is right next to you—on the couch, in bed, or following you from room to room 🥰

Despite her age, Gypsy still has a playful, puppy-like spirit. Her only little quirk? She may jump up when she’s excited to greet you… because she’s just that happy to see you 🤪

‼️FURGOTTEN DOG RESCUE UPDATE‼️

First, I would like to thank anyone and everyone who has adopted, fostered, volunteered, donated, or shared a post! Together, we saved 500 Furgotten dogs, and 20 cats! I am grateful, and so are the animals who would have never gotten the second chance they deserve without your help.

Second, I would like to confirm that I am in the process of closing the rescue. This will take time as we cannot officially “close,” on paper, with animals still in need. I am not giving up on the dogs (and 1 cat) I still have. That will never change.

I have gotten a lot of messages trying to persuade me to stay open. I get it, but it actually makes my decision even easier. The same people who sit behind a screen and tell people what to do, are the same ones who never made a donation, never fostered a dog, never volunteered at an adoption event, and could never possibly understand what it’s like to run a rescue.

So I am going to be fully transparent and real to try to explain why I HAVE to step away from rescue. And maybe this will save another rescue in the future….

🐾 Rescue is ALL VOLUNTEER! It is not a paid job. In fact, rescue has cost me everything. When funds aren’t raised, I pay the difference, or we go into debt. The rescue debt, is my debt. For example, I will personally have to pay the $3,500 we still owe for Harley.

🐾 Rescue is mentally exhausting. I have to make the calls that no one should have to make. Just saying, “No” plays a mental toll— You want to help, but cannot. The worse part is feeling like you are the deciding factor between life and death. I would not wish that on anyone 😢

🐾 Rescue is not sustainable for 1 person. We had a few reliable and dedicated fosters and for that I will forever be grateful, but I was alone in all other aspects of rescue. No one wants to “work” for free, but that’s exactly what it means to be a VOLUNTEER. Outside of fostering, I was the only volunteer.

Yes, it’s hard to close this chapter. For the past decade, it is all I’ve ever known. It feels like I’m ending a 10-year-abusive relationship. I stayed for the dogs, but left because it was toxic 😢

Moving forward, this is what I will and will not be doing effective immediately….

What I WILL be doing:
✔️Fostering the 5 dogs, and 1 cat, we have left until they get adopted.
✔️Accepting donations for their food and veterinary needs until they all get adopted.
✔️ Keeping our rescue account at Noah’s Ark open until they all get adopted
✔️ Keeping our Petfinder account until they all get adopted
✔️ Hosting one final adoption event (date and location TBD)
✔️Networking dogs in need, and my fosters, on my personal page.

What I WILL NOT be doing:
❌In-taking ANY new dogs (or cats).
❌Responding to e-mails outside of adoption inquiries/applications.
❌Responding to tags on Facebook.
❌Managing this page after February 15th.

Animals don’t just need ME, they need ALL OF US. I am officially retiring from always being that “someone” ❤️

🐾 The Furgotten Dog You’re Saving 🐾

Pluto is a partially PARALYZED poodle who was surrendered to a high kill shelter. We saved him right before he was euthanized. An MRI showed Pluto will not be able to walk again 😢 BUT, he doesn’t seem to mind. He scoots around using his front two legs or enjoys going on long walks in his wheelchair. He’s a special boy who deserves the most special home 🏡
