Last week we began a new series about how things in life happen and how to prepare for them. We began by looking at how to be prepared for temptations. This week are going to look at how to be prepared for trials.
There is not a single person who has not been through a trial and there is not a single person who won’t go through another trial. Whether it is a trial in your marriage, with your kids, taking care of aging parents, finances, job security, health issues, spiritual droughts, you name it, we face it.
But I want you to think about something. Nothing defines you better than how you act or respond when you face trails, struggles or temptations or negative situations. Stop and think about the last time you went through a bad situation. How did you think, react or respond? What did you say or do? What kind of person are you when troubles or trials come? The apostle James tells us to let trials be an opportunity for joy. Actually, he gives us a formula in his letter. He says: “Your faith is tested by a trial, then as you endure that trial your endurance grows, and when your endurance is fully developed you become a person of character or maturity! Now, that is good news!
But if you are like me, then you have probably asked the question “Why?” “Why God, why would you let me go through this? What is the purpose of this trial Lord? Why me Lord?” That is really the question I want to answer in this message. And by answering the question as to “why” God allows us to go through trials, I believe we will find the answer(s) as to how to be prepared for trials.
Join us this week as we prepare to face trials. All are welcome!
