🌹 Southern Roots & Roses: Morning Rose Walk

Today’s rose is Dannahue.

And goodness, isn’t she pretty wearing raindrops? ☔🌹

This is one of those roses that makes you stop and look twice. The blooms open in soft shades of apricot, peach, cream, and butter yellow, and sometimes it feels like no two blooms are exactly alike.

Even on a rainy Alabama morning, she’s holding onto her beauty.

I love how the center glows with those warm peachy tones while the outer petals soften into creamy vanilla colors. She almost looks like a sunrise tucked into a flower.

And if we’re being honest… any rose that can survive an Alabama downpour and still look this good deserves a little appreciation. 😅

Anybody else have a rose that can take a good Southern rain and still hold itself together? Tell me which one, because that’s valuable information around here. 😅🌹

Look at this little surprise hatch!

I THINK.. it came from my Starlight green egger and possibly my BCM as the sire but my choco orpington Sassy collected and hid it to hatch out.

Keep it or sell it?😳

My granddaughter has her own little garden here on the homestead 🌸

Last year she picked out seeds and plants she liked, and one of her choices was hollyhocks.

They never came up… or so we thought….
