Last Saturday, our students of the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning Program had the chance to learn about calligraphy with artist Ines Sun.

We began with breathing exercises and posture drills. The movement of qi corresponds to the presentation of ink colors in calligraphy, but there is no right or wrong, every calligraphy is beautiful in its own way. Additionally, they tasted Taiwanese high mountain tea, discussed the works of other calligraphy masters from different periods, and watched Bruce Lee movies during the class. By the end of the workshop, students are proud to present their beautiful calligraphy.

They are learning Mandarin because they married one or with Chinese heritage on one side of the family. In short, they are motivated by love and they desire to communicate with their loved ones. The more we understand each other's culture, the more peace to come.
