During Advent, Christians pray, sing and light candles in anticipation of the birth of Jesus and peace on earth. Yet, two diametrically opposing interpretations of the Advent message seem to resonate with the followers of Jesus today: one full of terror and death; the other, full of radical hospitality that welcomes the stranger. How is this possible?
