Clinical duties include greeting and escorting patients to the exam room, measuring and recording vitals, collecting and recording medical and medication histories, preparing patients for examination, assisting the provider as directed and ensuring efficient clinic patient flow. Additional duties include, but are not limited to implementing medical orders, forwarding results to patients, providing prep instructions to patients, and supply inventory.

Administrative duties include telephone triage, scheduling procedures, tests, and appointments, assisting with patient registration, and processing referrals and prior authorizations.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS:

Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively and courteously deal with telephone calls, patients and families, co-workers, and physicians.
Good computer skills with EMR experience.
Ability to pay close attention to detail in all facets of the position.
Dependable, reliable, and the ability to accommodate a fast paced work environment.
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

Our medical assistants provide compassionate and excellent patient care by performing courteous, efficient, and accurate service as they assist in the delivery of gastroenterology patient care management.

Job Summary:
• Accurately enter patient data into our EMR and provide complete documentation of relevant information. Investigate patient histories as required and communicate all relevant information timely.
• Assist providers by preparing charts for office visits and obtaining outside medical records. During office visits, perform basic clinical tasks such as taking vitals, recording medical histories, and answering patient questions.
• Help educate patients to new diets, meds, and scheduled procedures.
• Triaging telephone calls
• Medication refills and prior authorizations
• Communicating with patient in regard to their results
