Do you practice planting your tomatoes deep? In our hot climate it’s so helpful to give them a head start on establishing a deep root system. Encouraging deep root growth will help them stand up during our triple digit summer temps.
Also, isn’t it wild we have tomatoes in the ground this early!

Also, there’s not much better than the smell of fresh compost in the garden 🤭

I’m thankful for.. the small things that quietly make a season unforgettable. The blooms that surprised me, the veggies that pushed through despite the heat (and often neglect), the colors that changed every week, and the calm these little corners of the garden brought all summer long.
I’m also immensely grateful for our daughter Nora, and being able to share the garden with her. Watching her discover where food comes from and get excited about tiny sprouts and big harvests has been one of my favorite gifts of the season.
And lastly, I’m grateful for you and this tiny corner of the internet that shows up, cheers us on, shares advice, and reminds me I’m not growing any of this alone. Your support, your ideas, and even your quiet presence here have helped me grow more than you know.
I wish you all a happy holiday season and hopefully a time of rest 🫶🌱

Whoops, I swear this doubled in size overnight 🤣 But on another note, these Costada squash are our favorite kind of zucchini. Anyone else growing them?

Cucumber bounty means we can some pickles! We had a fun day yesterday showing Nora the ropes of processing cucumbers and canning pickles 🥒
We made dill pickle spears with a few jars of spicy pickles. 🌶️
