𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝗱 🎆 | The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) has issued a warning regarding the potentially harmful effects of particulate pollution from fireworks.

The advisory states that the anticipated air quality impacts from Fourth of July fireworks may reach hazardous levels in areas of , , , and counties from the evening of Saturday, July 4, until the early afternoon of Sunday, July 5.

The SCAQMD advises residents in affected areas to limit their exposure by staying indoors with windows and doors closed or finding alternative shelter, avoiding strenuous physical activities, and running air conditioning and/or an air purifier. If feasible, refrain from using swamp coolers or whole house fans that draw in outside air.

According to the advisory, "Breathing particle pollution can lead to cardiovascular and respiratory health effects such as heart attacks, asthma aggravation, decreased lung function, coughing, or difficulty breathing and may lead to premature death in people with heart or lung disease."

"Personal 'backyard' fireworks also contribute to this air pollution and may lead to negative health effects," the advisory warned, adding that the combination of fireworks smoke and high humidity may cause visibility issues on Saturday night, particularly in Orange County and the .
