Hey there parents! Do you have a teenager nearing that ever-important milestone of learning to drive?

Join us next Saturday, July 25 at 2 p.m. at the Forest Grove City Library for a special presentation on preparing and guiding your teen toward getting their permit and license.

We will be going over the process step by step, from insurance and vehicle requirements, to teaching tips, to applicable laws for teens, to preparing for both the written and skills tests, and more.

The goal is to take some of the mystery out of the process for parents, guardians, and young soon-to-be drivers.

The Forest Grove City Library is located at 2114 Pacific Avenue, across from Pacific University and the Forest Grove Post Office.

Hey there! I’d like to interrupt your scrolling through Facebook to talk about getting together with other humans face to face to talk about safety.

We are once again offering our community crime prevention and neighborhood safety presentations to any interested neighborhood gatherings, whether it’s a street or cul-de-sac, an HOA, an apartment complex – whatever and whomever you consider neighbors.

Presentations are an opportunity for you and your neighbors to get to know one another and learn how you can support each other in keeping your neighborhood safe. We cover the basics of "See Something, Say Something," only go into more depth as to what you're looking for (seeing) and how best to report (saying), and can run anywhere from 30-90 minutes depending on what your group is interested in.

Think "Neighborhood Watch," but with more emphasis on community and connecting with neighbors.

While it's typically geared to residents in the same neighborhood or vicinity, including HOAs and apartment complexes, your group doesn't necessarily have to be physically located on the same block. I will happily come and present to clubs and organizations, church and civic groups.
Meetings can even be scheduled for weekends and evenings, providing we're scheduling a few weeks out.

It's not as entertaining as scrolling through cat videos or those silly quizzes to find out what kind of cheese matches your personality (which, by the way, you definitely should be careful taking since quizzes are notorious for stealing your personal info)... but I try to make presentations as lighthearted and bearable as possible.

Hey there! We’d like to introduce you to our 2026 Mid-Year Report!
Now that we’re a halfway through our annual trip around the sun (plus a few days extra), we thought we’d offer a brief glimpse of what we’ve been up to the last six months.

It’s been busy – we’ve averaged about 61 calls per day, conducted nearly 1,700 traffic stops, and made 326 arrests, all over the course of three shifts, 24/7.

Here are a few more details:

🚓 Between January 1 and June 30, 2026, your Forest Grove Police Department serviced 10,910 calls total

🚓 Of those, 4,550 were calls made to dispatch (911 or non-emergency), and 6,360 were self-initiated (such as traffic stops and extra patrols).

🗓️ Our busiest month was June with an average of 69 calls per day, while February saw only around 56 calls per day.

🚓 Day shift took the most calls out of the three shifts.

🚓 Officers also made 326 arrests between January 1 and June 30, however that number includes arrests that resulted in citations as well as trips to the jail.

⚠️ Police conducted 1,710 traffic stops, as well as 518 extra patrols - which is when officers specifically spend time at and around a particular area to address suspicious activity, traffic safety, and/or community concerns.

💥 Police responded to 148 traffic crashes during this time frame, most occurred during swing shift.

🚓 Among the 10,910 calls, the FGPD responded to 641 calls involving suspicious persons, vehicles, or circumstances, as well as:
• 120 thefts
• 31 assaults
• 30 burglaries
• 58 DUIIs
• 60 hit-and-runs
• 285 disturbances

🚓 Police took 77 calls involving fraud or scams.

👮 The School Resource Officer was specifically assigned to 122 calls involving students in the Forest Grove School District.

🚓 Of the 10,910 calls, approximately 1,157 calls involved various code complaints and ordinance violations, however that number does not account for graffiti related calls.

🚨 Other calls included: 440 welfare checks, assisting 39 motorists, and police response to:
• 74 CPR or other medical emergencies
• 82 calls involving behavioral or mental health matters
• 40 overdose

🚔 Police were also called to assist the public with a myriad of non-criminal or non-code issues more than 532 times. This can include anything and everything from connecting folks with resources, answering questions about scams, or talking with kids about drugs – to lost and found pets, pushing stranded power chairs, carrying groceries, and even fixing plumbing issues.

🚨 Response time for Priority One calls - including assaults with weapons, crimes in progress, and CPR calls – was approximately 2.7 minutes. In other words, officers could get to 911 calls for immediate, emergency assistance anywhere in town within less than three minutes.

👮 Lastly, between January 1 and June 30, the Forest Grove Police Department:
• Welcomed our new Chief of Police and one new patrol officer
• Bid farewell to two who reached their well-earned retirements,
• Celebrated two officers reaching the 25-year milestone,
• Launched a new bike patrol team,
• Participated in numerous community events
.. and handed out more than 1,000 junior officer badges.
