💫 A Place Where Sacrifice Will Never Be Forgotten
Some memorials honor those who served. Others honor battles, dates, and moments in history. The Gold Star Families Memorial stands for something equally important—the families who carried the weight of that sacrifice long after the battlefield grew silent.
On September 27, 2026, Kaufman County will dedicate a new Gold Star Families Memorial Monument through the efforts of the Woody Williams Foundation and our local community. This monument joins a nationwide movement inspired by Medal of Honor recipient Hershel “Woody” Williams, whose mission was to ensure that Gold Star Families always have a place where their loved ones are remembered, honored, and never forgotten. The Foundation has helped establish memorials across all 50 states and continues to expand that legacy today.
What makes these monuments unique is that they are not simply monuments to loss. They are monuments to legacy. Each memorial tells the story of Homeland, Family, Patriot, and Sacrifice, reminding future generations that freedom has always come at a cost borne not only by those who served, but also by the families who loved them.
For Gold Star Families, these memorials provide a permanent place of reflection, remembrance, and community. For the rest of us, they serve as a reminder that behind every name etched into our nation’s history is a family whose life was forever changed.
As we approach this dedication, may we take a moment to remember that gratitude is more than words spoken on Memorial Day or Veterans Day. It is a commitment to ensure that the sacrifices of our fallen service members—and the families they left behind—are never forgotten.
To our Gold Star Families: this monument stands as a lasting promise that your loved ones’ legacy will endure for generations to come. 🇺🇸⭐️
