I'm proud to be the mayor of Forney, Texas, the largest city in the nation's fastest growing county.

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten, and we remain grateful to all who have served our country.

So, what’s next? Let’s just say, we’re aiming for a bullseye as we continue reshaping the retail landscape in the nation’s fastest-growing county. And in about three months, we just might hit our next target. 🎯😉

I knew something was brewing when I sat down with the team from BJ's Wholesale Club earlier this year. They told me, with a confident smile, “Mayor, we’re probably going to have the lowest gas prices in town.”
Well… they weren’t kidding.
In a bold pre–grand opening move, BJ’s flipped the switch on their gas pumps early—and dropped prices below $2. Just like that.
But down the road, H-E-B said, “Oh, we doing this today?” and answered right back with $1.84.
And just like that… we’ve got a full-blown gas war in Forney. (At last check around 2 p.m., it was down to $1.74!)
I don’t normally root for conflict—but this is one battle I think we can all get behind. If this is what competition looks like, then let the “war” continue. ⛽💥
Drive safe out there … and maybe take the long way home today 😄

We've been working hard behind the scenes to give our youth and their families more options. EVO Entertainment has broken ground; we're working on the Boys and Girls Club; and tonight we introduced an opportunity to add the YMCA and a city library to our Northside Park plans, which will be adjacent to our new hospital under construction. We're not just getting bigger, we're getting better.

YMCA and Public Library coming to Forney!

A recent inForney.com article asked the question “if you could add any new business to Forney, what would you choose?” The answers were broad, but many said the same thing-a YMCA or a public library. The residents of Forney want activities and programming in town, with no driving required. Bringing quality and sustainable entertainment to Forney has been a focus for myself and others while on council. We will soon welcome both Slicks and EVO to Forney; bowling, arcades, IMAX screens and more. This will be amazing to have in town! But we are still missing a key piece-youth sports, health and fitness classes, public meeting spaces and community programming that meets the needs of our youngest residents, and our seniors. Mayor Roberson, myself and the rest of our council are so pleased to announce that after MANY months of meetings and discussions, YMCA is coming to Forney! This will fill a large need in our community for quality child, youth and adult classes and programs. This will keep our children and youth engaged in quality and uplifting events and programs-a need we have long had as a city. We feel so lucky that we get to partner as a city with such a quality organization.

The YMCA facility will be 40,000 square feet, and a 20,000 square foot public library will be included. The cost for this facility will be a partnership between the city and the YMCA. That means that the City of Forney will not be paying for this on its own-this will be a split cost. As the numbers are finalized of who will be paying what, I will share that. There are many option of how the finances could look and be shared. Those options will be public discussion in future council meetings. Ultimately, this will be an item for YOU, the voters to consider on the November 2026 ballot. You will have the final say on how your tax dollars are spent!

This project has my full support and endorsement. Forney has been growing and changing in incredible ways in recent years, and this will be one more positive addition to our community. I’m grateful for all the work City Staff and the Mayor have put into this project to bring it to you, the voters!

The Forney Police Officer Association has endorsed Sarah Salgado in her bid for reelection to the Forney City Council, adding to a list of local officials backing her campaign.
The association’s endorsement follows recent support from myself and former Mayors Mary Penn and Amanda Tharp.
“ The men and women of the Forney Police Officer Association enthusiastically endorse the reelection of Sarah Salgado,” said James Carter, president of the association. “ She takes a no-nonsense approach to fighting crime, ensures officers have the resources needed to protect our families, and stands firm against extremists who push to reduce funding for our police department. It’s clear Sarah is the only candidate in this race committed to keeping every part of Forney safe.”
Election Day is May 2, 2026.
