If cleaning your home was one of several New Year’s Resolutions, a “garage sale” may soon be on your calendar. We get a number of calls a week asking questions about garage sales, we hope this information will help answer some questions. If you are interested in hosting a garage sale, you do not need a permit, however the City does have several guidelines that need to be followed. First, garage sales are limited to three during any 12-month period and only one sign in an owner’s front yard and two other signs (off-site) are allowed on private property with the owner’s permission. Signs are not to exceed two sq. ft. in size and must be placed at least four feet from the street curb line. The signs are also to be posted for no longer than 72 hours and must be picked up after the sale is complete.
