Meet Dr. John Olienyk: Bringing Global Financial Insight to OLLI

With decades of experience in economics, finance, and international education, Dr. John Olienyk brings a wealth of knowledge and real-world perspective to the classroom. A longtime faculty member at Colorado State University, John earned his Ph.D. in economics from CSU and spent 37 years teaching in the Department of Finance and Real Estate, specializing in financial markets and international finance.

John taught finance and economics in MBA programs in France, China, and Russia and served as a mentor for young business and economics professors in Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Russia.

OLLI members who attended John’s spring courses appreciated his ability to explain complex economic issues in a clear, engaging, and timely way. His classes sparked thoughtful discussion on topics such as inflation, global markets, and emerging financial trends.

This fall, John returns with a dynamic lineup of courses designed to help learners better understand Ukraine's current situation as well as today’s rapidly changing economic landscape:
