The best rooms feel good when you're standing in them, barefoot on the floor, making your first cup of coffee. In this kitchen, design was a process of uncovering what they loved and needed and giving those things a functional and intentional place to live.

I have been eager to share this kitchen even though it is not completely done. A few panels and the tile backsplash are coming!

They especially love (besides the whole space😅):
👨‍🍳 The U-shape layout which makes it so easy to prep and cook efficiently

👨‍🍳All the storage inserts in the lower cabinets that allow the wall space to stay more open

👨‍🍳Storage so close to the cooking area

👨‍🍳Touchless faucet

👨‍🍳The colors! Soft yellow walls with wood, white and gray. Charming!

👨‍🍳The windows, natural light and view, of course 🙂

Designing a kitchen is an exercise in balance with it is the most high-traffic room in the home. It requires a delicate dance between the rigid and the organic.

Every kitchen has constraints - the plumbing lines, stovetop clearance, the path between the fridge and the sink - but great design happens when we plan for how you will move within those constraints. We had to make a million little decisions to finalize the shape and layout here, while considering a few structural non-negotiables.

It’s definitely about more than a work triangle. It’s about where you stand when the sun hits the window and how the room breathes when three people are leaning against the counter and I’m soooo pleased with the results!!

Looking at sconces, layered lighting and lighting zones for the Holly House started with thoughtfully planned electrical layouts.

When it came to sconces we knew we wanted organic shapes and natural materials like wood and clay to complement the home's aesthetic. They will anchor each area's function and shine gentle light in the main walkways. It’s all about creating a feeling, not just illuminating.

I LOVE the materials and shapes that are going into this home!
