While exploring the Jersey Shore in Wildwood Crest ,NJ I found a live knobbed whelk! Don’t worry—we only picked it up briefly to show everyone before carefully placing it right back where it belongs in the ocean. 💙

If you are new here I am an avid shell collector since I was 2 1/2 years old from Columbus , Ohio, and an aspiring marine biologist who loves educating others about marine life and the importance of protecting our oceans. I run a shell museum in my parents garage, book author of "The Adventures of Artie the Alphabet cone" available on Amazon.

If you enjoy shells, beachcombing, and ocean adventures, follow my journey on Instagram and Facebook, and check out my videos for a tour of my Shell Museum!

Every shell has a story, and every living creature deserves to stay in its natural habitat. 🌊🐚💙 ’s Shell Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium Museum University East Carolina University Florida Atlantic University Scripps Institution of Oceanography

One of the coolest finds of the day in Wildwood Crest, NJ! 🌊🐚 We came across this HUGE live knobbed whelk, and it was incredible to see such an amazing creature up close.

After admiring him for a few moments, we carefully returned him right back to his natural habitat where he belongs. Wild animals are meant to stay wild, and respecting marine life is one of the best ways we can help protect our beaches and oceans. 💙

Have you ever spotted a live knobbed whelk this big?

Flipping horseshoe crabs may seem like a small act, but it can make a big difference. 🦀❤️

These two horseshoe crabs were stranded upside down on the beach in Cape May, New Jersey. The first one was easy to help, but the last one was determined to make us work for it! He kept tucking his tail instead of using it to help himself flip over. After a little patience and teamwork, they both made it safely back to the bay.
