Long Knife Troopers, Family, and Veterans-
On 12 DEC 2025, The Secretary of the Army published Army Directive 2025-25 which directs that units without public affairs personnel deactivate any public unit social media account. As a result, we will formally deactivate our squadron page in the coming days.
If you are a current Trooper or family member, we welcome you to request to join the private 5-4 CAV SFRG page to stay in touch and stay up to date on current squadron information: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2206869249845209
If you are a veteran or former Trooper, we encourage you to join the 4th Cavalry Regiment Association page.
Finally, the 1st Infantry Division page will include any public updates on the Dagger Brigade and Long Knife Squadron, and we encourage you to follow the Fort Riley and Fort Riley MWR pages for information on the installation as well.
We appreciate your engagement and look forward to seeing folks in other settings as we adjust our outreach posture.
Prepared and Loyal!

We’re Back!
On October 8, 2025, Tomahawk (D TRP), 5th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment completed a Change of Responsibility ceremony formally transferring responsibility from 1SG Bryan to 1SG Rodriguez.
This event acknowledged the dedicated service of two remarkable senior NCOs.
1SG Bryan demonstrated unwavering dedication to the Tomahawk Troopers during his tenure. His leadership was marked by a commitment to mission success, achieved through extensive coaching, counseling, and training. His ability to inspire and guide his troops played a crucial role in the squadron's accomplishments. As he transitions to his new role, 5-4 CAV expresses immense gratitude for the significant contributions he made and is confident that his experience and dedication will continue to serve him well.
In welcoming 1SG Rodriguez, the squadron embraces a leader who is no stranger to the 5-4 CAV family. His prior experiences within the unit equip him with a deep understanding of the squadron's culture and objectives. The squadron is excited about the leadership and perspectives he will use to lead and inspire his Toopers to new heights.
