💙 One remarkable dog inspired a month of second chances.
June was a special month as we celebrated the life and legacy of our beloved K-9 ambassador during the dedication of Henry's Animal Campus. Staff, volunteers and community members came together to honor Henry's incredible impact on Fort Worth Animal Care & Control and the countless lives he touched over more than 13 years.

To continue his legacy, we hosted the Honoring Henry Summer Adoption Event, where 21 pets found loving homes. It was a fitting tribute to a dog who spent his life helping others. 🎉

Beyond Henry's celebration, June was another busy month for our team. Hundreds of animals found homes through adoption, foster care, rescue and transport, but our shelters remain at capacity.

If you’re looking to help this weekend, there is an especially urgent need in the Fort Worth area.

The City of Fort Worth has announced that its shelters are over capacity, with more than 600 dogs and cats in their care. Officials are asking the public to foster or adopt immediately to reduce overcrowding. Cats are reported at roughly 253% capacity at one campus, and dogs are also well above capacity. Foster families receive food, supplies, and support from the shelter.

Here are some of the best places to contact this weekend:

* Chuck Silcox Animal Care & Control Center
* Open: Friday–Sunday, 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
* This is the city’s primary adoption center and is actively seeking emergency fosters and adopters. The city also maintains a list of pets needing immediate placement.
* Fort Worth North Animal Care and Adoption Campus
* Open: Friday–Sunday, 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
* Shares animals with the city’s municipal shelter system and participates in emergency placement efforts.
* Humane Society of North Texas (HSNT) Adoption Center
* Open: Friday–Sunday, 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
* Frequently has dogs, cats, kittens, and puppies available for adoption and foster support.
* Animal Hope
* Open: Friday–Sunday, 12:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
* A Fort Worth rescue specializing in animals needing rehabilitation before adoption.
