Well that was…rough.

Racing in the rain is part of karting. Unclear communication and inconsistent decisions shouldn’t be.

Today’s races were challenging from start to finish. In 206 we left the grid in dry conditions only for it to start pouring mid-race, leaving competitors on slicks in conditions that resulted in multiple DNFs and karts leaving the racing surface. With no call from track officials, safety ultimately became the deciding factor for us and I retired from the race.

In KA, we made the appropriate adjustments for the weather, only to face confusion on the warmup laps regarding starting positions that affected our race before it even began. I was still able to salvage a P4 finish.

Some days you leave talking about lap times. Other days you leave talking about lessons learned.

We’ll regroup, refocus, and come back stronger. Next weekend we’re at Road America for the INDYCAR race, followed by a weekend off, followed by the Mid-Ohio INDYCAR race, then back to NCMP for a double header weekend.
