Well its that time of year again . The bass are pretty much finishing up spawning. Theyre going to start feeding up replenishing their fat reserves from the rigors of spawning . One of the most universal BIG BASS BAITS EVER
I am a fisherman just like you. I have seen and used almost every bait after watching and reading claims of magic baits catching giants bass. Some produced and some didnt live up to my expectations. I always look at things scientifically and there are always variables and conditions why baits work at certain times and conditions and why they dont. As lure designers we are always looking to create the next "Super Bait" , the one that really catches fish. Probably the greatest all around "super bait" is the Senko developed by Gary Yamamoto- The Chatter bait falls into this category as well as the Slug-go,Hula Popper /Jitterbug and of coarse the plastic worm developed by Creme. All are amazing baits that catch fish.

Let me tell you about the Mega Bug- Although some wouldnt consider it a "Super Bait" it definitely falls into the category of a big fish producer. Its bulky profile along with its six appendages really displaces a lot of water and what I believe will provoke strikes when other more subtle "creature baits" dont. After fishing this bait for 5 years,I have found so many ways to use it. Its a great flipping bait-whether in heavy cover such as w**ds and brush or flipping under docks. I have used it on the shakey head as well as Carolina rigging it. One technique I discovered was using it with a very light belly weight or even weightless dragging it over mats of grass or over lily pads. I started using in instead of my frogs because the hook up ratio is so much better. The bass just want to attack and kill it. What I discovered though was it really is a big bass bait-I do catch some smaller bass with it but the fish over 4 lbs really seem to have an attitude for these.
