Black women deserve to give birth without fear.

That should not be a radical statement, but in 2026, it still is. This week is Black Maternal Health Week, and it matters deeply to everyone at CHC. We work in Fresno, Madera, Kings, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties to support Black and Brown birthing people and their families.

June 27 is National HIV Testing Day and a reminder that knowing your status is one of the most powerful steps you can take to protect your health and the health of others.

In Kings County, our KITT Project is working to reduce health disparities and increase access to free STI testing and treatment for those who are most impacted. Through education, outreach, and at-home testing resources, the program supports African American communities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people who can become pregnant in getting informed, tested, and treated.

HIV is treatable. Testing is free, confidential, and life-saving.

Our Project DAD program supports fathers in Fresno and Madera County by focusing on mental health during the perinatal period. As part of our Maternal Wellness Program, Project DAD recognizes that strong fathers help build strong families.

Whether it’s learning to manage stress, navigating the challenges of new parenthood, or simply needing space to be heard, fathers deserve support, too.

Juneteenth marks the day β€” June 19, 1865 β€” when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

It is a day of remembrance, but also of resilience. A time to honor the generations who endured, resisted, and rose β€” and to reflect on the continued work toward racial equity, justice, and health access for Black communities.

California Health Collaborative stands committed to supporting programs and partnerships that uplift, protect, and empower.
