As an educator, I believe one of our most important responsibilities is helping students understand the sacrifices that have preserved the freedoms and opportunities they enjoy today. Every classroom, every lesson, every dream our young people pursue is made possible because generations of Americans answered the call to serve. Today, we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice and remember the families who carry their legacy forward. May we teach our students not only the history of their service, but also the values of courage, duty, selflessness, and love of country that they embodied.
