Defrosting the Valley

Your Honor,
I want you to know that I humbly accept all the consequences for the crimes I have committed but I ask that your hear my voice and my plea for help. It seems to me that there is a debate as to whether or not addictíon is a disease. I do not understand the debate at all because in 1953 the AMA and CDC declared addiction a disease. Its characteristics are progressive, incurable and fatal. It's nature is obsessesive and compulsive. The disease hi_jacks the amygdyla where our survival mechanism is, which tells us to breathe, even when we are underwater drowning. It is a very powerful part of our brain. I have been getting locked up for my disease since I was 11 years old. My disease has been treated as a crime or a moral deficiency. I have always accepted responsibility and the consequences for my crimes as I do this time. I just can't help feeling cheated and robbed. I have a disease and this country has known that I have a disease for 66 years and has never offered me treatment or help. They have locked me away. In my disease I do the same thing over and over again expecting different results, which is the definition of Insanity. I feel as though this county is doing the same thing. They are locking people up with the disease of addiction over and over again and expecting som**hing different to happen to me that's insane. I say all this to ask you to do som**hing different and finally give me the help I deserve. This county deserves change and help. If I had diabetes people will be lined up to help me. I beg you not to turn the other way I beg you to acknowledge that I have a disease and please help me, thank you for your valuable time.
