Congratulations to our 2025 fellow, Shelly Seymour, for landing the position of Operations Advocate at Grace Marketplace!
As a Community Spring fellow, Shelly worked on housing advocacy for people with records. It's so fitting that she will now be working as an on-site advocate at Gainesville's local shelter. We can't wait to see the amazing work that Shelly will do!

On Sunday, July 12th Heartwood Soundstage is holding a protest song writing contest where a portion of the proceeds go to Community Spring! Doors open at 5pm and the show starts at 6!
It looks like 77 people have submitted a song and there will be at least 20 performances.

In this video, award-winning author and Community Spring board member Clint Smith talks about the overwhelming, suffocating reality many face when returning home from prison.
Those words above? They came from an applicant to our Just Income program. Out of over 200 applicants, she was randomly selected as one of just 15 people to receive 12 months of guaranteed income.
Six months later, she shared an update with us: "Before Just Income, I felt like I was constantly drowning. The money gave me room to breathe for the first time in a long time... but what has meant just as much is knowing there's a community out there that doesn't judge me."
